What You Need to Know About Working With Blake

I’m Blake Adams, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Minnesota, and a National Certified Counselor. I earned my bachelor’s degree in sociology from Northern Illinois University and my master’s degree in counseling from Capella University. I’m the founder of Christian Counseling NFP, where I work to make thoughtful, accessible mental health care available to people and families in our communities.

My professional experience has taken me into counseling offices, foster care and family services, long-term care facilities, and healthcare leadership. I support teens, adults, older adults, couples, and families navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, family conflict, and major life changes. I also work with people who are struggling with their faith—whether they are questioning what they believe, feeling distant from God, or trying to make sense of suffering.

I became a therapist because I believe people deserve a space where they can speak honestly, feel heard, and receive help that fits their lives. My work has shown me how meaningful it can be to tell your story without fear of judgment. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and practical. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy skills, and education about mental health to help clients understand patterns and build coping skills. When clients want faith to be part of the work, I may also draw from spiritual frameworks in the Bible. That may include exploring scripture, prayer, questions about God, or the ways faith has shaped a client’s understanding of themselves and their experiences. I welcome honest questions and difficult feelings about faith.

My Christian faith is part of who I am and part of what led me to create Christian Counseling NFP. Faith integration is always your choice. You can include it in therapy, leave it out, or change your mind along the way.

When you work with me, you can expect compassion, honesty, and a willingness to meet you where you are. I will take your concerns seriously, recognize your strengths, and work alongside you toward the goals that matter to you.
